POTS Lines Decreasing-Wireless on The Rise
A recent study showed that POTS (Plain Old Telephone) lines are decreasing in the home.
The study showed that this occured mostly within younger people and those that are in the lower end of the income spectrum.

I have to think wireless technology will continue to take away market share from POTS. Then again the traditional phone companies see this, why do you think you see all the recent mergers and buyouts between companies that have been traditional pOTS providers and cellular carriers? They seen this a long time ago, thats why.
Now on the other hand, I would not kiss DSL or dial-up goodbye just yet. Most older people and those that only use the Internet for email find dial-up to be an affordable and viable solution. DSL has become more affordable thus most dialup users are moving to DSL as well, especially when their POTS provider wraps this into a package deal at a very discounted rate.
Wireless Internet access is still somewhat out of reach for what most consumers are willign to pay, but as the price drops, look for it to continualy and rapidly grab more market share. It will happen too.
