Cell Phones and Parental Control
Alright, this week has been a very busy one for Brochin.net. We have added some new vendors for VOIP, Cellular, Faxing, and other features involved with networking. So I am finally making time to get to my promised follow-up on cell phones.
Last post we talked about legislation and cell phones as well as parental control over our children and technology. We referenced a post from a blog by a friend of mine, Gina Weiss. I told you I would follow up with some information on cell phones and parental control and here it is.
Many cellular plans have started to include parental controls in their plans and the cell phone itself. These controls include but are not limited to:
Incoming number block that will block specific numbers.
Downloading block to block your kids from downloading ringbones and other junk from the web.
A block on purchases from the web, such as ring tones.
Feature inactivation such as text messaging so your kids aren’t text messaging answers to each other in the classroom.
911 one-button features that allows them to push just one button to call 911.
None of these features will take the place of good old parental involvement. I offer a cell phone shopping Comparison Chart that allows the shopper to compare up to three different plans on one sheet. I currently do not have parental control features added into it, but you can easily write them in until I actually update it.
Cognigen Cellular Best Coverage with Best Plans.
Cash back on offers from today’s leading carriers such as T-Mobile, Nextel, Sprint, Cingular and more! The only wireless shop offering every carrier to be sure you find the best coverage and rate plans for you. |
If you know of any other parental control features for cell phones that I did not mention, I ask you please share them here. It will make good information for our readers and I can use it later on when I update the Comparison chart.
Well that is all for now. Our next post will be on tools and devices to make your cell phone use easier. I will give you a hint as to some of the content. Have you ever bought a new cell phone and wasted hours transferring all you contacts, numbers, and other information to the new phone from the old one. We will talk about some very cool technology that will make this easier and sooooooo much faster, and it is cheap.
P.S. If you would like a copy of the comparison chart, you can find it here http://www.brochin.net/downloads/Cell%20Phone%20chart.doc

Well, I would like to let you all know that this blog is not going to be your typical blog.
